Make old keys useless

Lock Rekeying in Atlanta

Rekeying changes the pins inside a lock cylinder so it works with a new key and no longer works with the old one. It is usually the fastest, most cost-effective way to take back control of who can get in, without replacing hardware that still works well.

What we provide

Security work designed around the whole opening.

  • Rekeying for single doors or whole buildings
  • Rekeys after employee or tenant turnover
  • New master key and keyed-alike setups during the rekey
  • Restricted and high-security cylinder rekeying
  • Key duplication and labeled key sets
  • Assessment of locks that should be replaced instead

When rekeying makes sense

The most common reason we rekey is simple: you no longer know who has a key. Staff turnover, a former tenant, a contractor who never returned a key, or keys that were copied without permission all leave a door less secure than it looks.

Rekeying fixes that without changing the hardware on the door. If the lock is in good working order, we change the cylinder so only the new keys operate it. It is often finished in one visit, even for many doors.

Rekey or replace?

We recommend replacing instead of rekeying when a lock is worn, damaged, failing to latch, or no longer the right grade for the door. Commercial openings that see heavy traffic often benefit from commercial-grade or high-security cylinders that resist unauthorized key copying.

We will tell you which locks are worth keeping and which are worth upgrading, so you are not paying to rekey hardware that is about to fail.

Rekeying as part of key control

A rekey is a good moment to organize keys for the long term. We can set up master keying so each person carries only the keys they need, stamp and label keys, and move critical doors to restricted keyways that cannot be copied at a hardware store.

Common questions

Before you schedule

Is rekeying cheaper than replacing locks?

Usually, yes. When the existing hardware is in good condition, rekeying keeps the lock and changes only the cylinder pins, so you pay for the work and new keys rather than new hardware.

Can you rekey all of our doors to one key?

In most cases, yes, as long as the locks share a compatible keyway. We can also set up a master key system so managers carry one key while staff keys open only certain doors.

How often should a business rekey?

Any time keys are lost, an employee leaves without returning keys, or you take over a space. Many businesses also rekey on a regular schedule as part of key control.
